AUDITIONS 2008

Every spring Cantabile holds auditions for membership in the following season. This year, the auditions will begin mid-March and run through to the end of April.

Starting in January 2008 we will begin accepting audition requests. We prefer to receive requests for auditions by email, in your email request please provide the following information:

name of the person requesting an audition - age - parents contact info (for younger choirs) - phone number - email address


Later in the spring we’ll contact you with a specific audition time. Auditions are an opportunity for you to find out more about the choirs, meet Dr. Sirett, and see our space.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

LOCATIONAuditions are held at Sydenahm Street United Church (at the corner of Sydenham and William Streets) in the upstairs hall. The upstairs hall is located off of William Street entrance.

PREPERATION We ask everyone, with the exception of the training choir, auditioning to please prepare something in advance (a folk-song) Auditions will also test rhythm, pitch, tone, abiltiy to blend and musical aptitude.

COST There is no fee to audition for Cantabile. Choristers do pay tuition - covering the cost of instruction and music.TRAINING CHOIR - tuition for the training choir is $200 (payable in two separate installments). Tuition for all the other choirs is payable in 3 equal installments by post-dated cheque. CHILDREN'S CHOIR - $350  YOUTH SINGERS - $400 MEN’S CHORUS - $300 WOMEN'S CHORUS - $350.

Families with more than one chorister receive a tuition discount.  Bursaries are available for members of any choir who require financial assistance.  Please contact Dr. Sirett in writing to request a bursary.
Uniforms Choristers must purchase their own uniform; some second-hand uniform items may be available at a reduced price.

ACCEPTANCE & REGISTRATION
New members accepted into the choirs for the next season will be contacted in late June or early July with an acceptance letter and registration form.
