THE SILK ROAD

November 6, 2010, 7:30 pm.

Cantabile’s launches its season with a fascinating musical journey along the celebrated ‘Silk Road’—an enchanting passage that will feature many musical surprises from the classical traditions of Eastern Europe to the exotic sounds of the Far East. Guest artist, Lakshmi Ranganathan, India’s ‘Queen of the Veena’ will join the choirs. The evening includes the premiere of a new work by Juno award-winner, Marjan Mozetich.

The Tender Land

London Pro Musica, Guest Choir

The award-winning London Pro Musica under the direction of Ken Fleet joins the Cantabile Women’s Chorus and Men’s Choir in a trans-Atlantic cruise across ‘the pond.’ Celebrated music from England and America including Stanford, Vaughan Williams, Whitacre and Copland—sung in the inspiring setting of St. George’s Cathedral.

Road Less Travelled

‘Are we there yet?’ You won’t hear anyone utter those words during this cheery excursion for the young--and the young at heart. Guest conductor Doreen Rao, one of the world’s most celebrated specialists in young voices, leads the choirs in a concert of charming repertoire.
